Healing Gear: Head and Shoulders
Well I've had this in the works for a while, so I took advantage of this morning's weekly maintainence and finished up my healing gear list for resto druids. This list covers the following eight slots: head, shoulders, chest, wrists, hands, waist, legs, and feet. All this gear comes from quest rewards, crafted items, badges, reputation, and drops from 5-mans, Karazhan, and Zul'Aman.
I'm listing both leather and cloth gear. You may have more competition with the cloth drops, but I think it's important to know what's out there. Plus, no one can tell you that you can't have a cloth quest reward or something crafted with tailoring.
A few sets that you'll see popping up throughout the list:
Windhawk Armor: This is the 3-piece BoP set for LW druids. It also includes some offensive caster stats, making it ideal for druids who often fill both roles.
Primal Mooncloth: This is the 3-piece BoP set for tailors. This is an excellent healing set, and easy to obtain, its only real weakness being the complete lack of stamina.
Moonglade Raiment: This is the druid dungeon set (some refer to it as Tier 3.5). Unfortunately, it includes strength and agility; good for versatility, but of no real use to a dedicated healer. Still, they aren't bad pieces, and you can use the sockets to customize them for the stats you want.
Hallowed Raiment: This is the cloth version of the Moonglade Raiment. Since it's meant for priests, the stats are much more focused than the Moonglade, providing higher healing, intellect, and spirit. However, if you plan to roll on a piece of this set, make your intentions clear at the beginning of the run, to avoid drama later.
Malorne Raiment: This is your Tier 4 set. Only two of the five pieces are listed here (the others drop from 25-mans) but they're definitely pieces you want to watch out for.
Kodohide Battlegear: In patch 2.4, rare-quality PvP sets were made available through reputation with the main factions in Outland. While these pieces really aren't meant for PvE, they are a possible substitute if you have some holes in your gear.
Additionally, there are lots of higher-end crafted items I don't list, because the recipes drop from 25-mans and thus are much more difficult for more casual or less progressed players to obtain. However, some of it is BoE, so it's possible to get if you have good connections, or lots of money to spend. Crafter's Tome is a great resource: here are the lists of items made through Leatherworking and Tailoring, if you want to look more into that. And, while I'm linking to other sites, all of the information I've gathered has come from these various resources:
Kaliban's Loot List
Lootables
WoWWiki
Wowhead
For some slots, your options may seem a bit lacking. If you aren't lucky with drops, you can check the Auction House for random greens to start, or opt for gear with both damage and healing. The above resources can help you find gear beyond what's listed here. Finally, don't forget about PvP. Though I personally don't enjoy it, there is lots of great gear to be had for those who do.
Since this list is so long, I'll break it up over several posts throughout the week. First, starting with the head and shoulder items:
